Blanket of azaleas enhances Greenfield Gardens, Wilmington, a 210-acre municipal park enclosing a five-fingered lake. Bald cypresses stud the shallow water. Wilmingtonians celebrate the Azalea Festival each spring when the flowers blossom.

There’s an irony that the most famous Muslim in America, Muhammad Ali, refused to go to war—which he was heavily penalized for—and yet Muslims have to prove we’re non-violent.

Above all, capitalism wastes human life. The U.S. spends billions to warehouse 2 million people—many of them young Black and Latino men—in overcrowded prisons. It provides sub-par education to millions of poor students, sending a message that their lives will amount to nothing.

Are people homeless in America because there’s a shortage of homes? And if that’s the case, is there a shortage of homes because we don’t have the concrete, the wood and the steel to build them?

The truth is that under capitalism, there’s no incentive to build low-cost housing for the homeless—because it isn’t profitable to do so.

The same goes for the more than 800 million people in the world who go hungry. It isn’t profitable to feed them. So food is stockpiled or destroyed rather than distributed to them.

Seriously though, tumblr’s mental health rhetoric is such trash. These assholes think that mental illness is the same a cold and that you dont need a doctor. Like dude, its literally impossible to diagnose yourself. Like you can argue with me forever about how teleporting is better than driving but that doesnt change the fact human beings cant fucking teleport. I see posts flying around with mental illnesses and their symptoms telling people to diagnose themselves and i wanna hit them all. I also notice that if you have an actual diagnosis suddenly you’re privileged. As if people with actual diagnosis are treated like neurotypical people. They just seem so damn eager to have a mental illness. These people can’t be trusted. They think Mental illnesses are quirks. They think psychiatry is just reading mayoclinic pages for 12 years instead of actual medical school.
